About AvD
Especially in the early days of the automobile, an automobile club was essential as an association of drivers, because only through the community could mutual help and exchange of experiences for the benefit of road users flourish.
That's why in 1899 at the Hotel Bristol in Berlin, 50 committed drivers came together to form the first self-help organization: the German Automobile Club DAC. The first president was Victor Duke of Ratibor.
These committed founding members soon laid the basis for a network of mutual help and advice, which - in a modified form - is still the basis of the wide range of services of the oldest and most traditional automobile club.
